Will we spend our checks or save them?

Marketwatch provides some expert opinion on the chances of the stimulus package working. I also found the commentary over at the Freakonomics Blog an interesting read. It all leaves me wondering why 70% of our economy is derived from consumer spending and whether an economy like that *should* be growing.
